Omise – is the payment platform
OmiseGO – is the blockchain
OmiseGO is Singapore based decentralised open payment platform issued on Ethereum. It was founded in 2013 by Jun Hasegawa who is also the CEO of the company and Donnie Harinsut who is the COO of the company.
It is the first Ethereum based ICO to be a unicorn. It received a valuation of over 1 billion dollars. According to industry sources, OmiseGo is so promising that it could be introduced in the real world. They officially announced a partnership with McDonalds Thailand to be their exclusive payment gateway for their mobile and website delivery app.
In recent updates from the company, Jun Hasegawa also declared that the main aim of the company is to ‘unbank the unbanked’. This means means providing superior financial services to those in developing countries, who lack banking infrastructure and do not have access to traditional banking services.
OmiseGO provides value transfer service among all currencies and asset types. The network is connected to Ethereum where anyone can conduct financial transactions such as asset management, B2B commerce, loyalty programs, payroll deposit, payments, remittances, supply-chain finance, trading, and other on-demand services. These services are made available in an inexpensive and decentralized manner. In addition, many mainstream users from large growing economies will be able to exchange fiat money to decentralised currencies such as Ethereum, Bitcoin and others.
The intricately agnostic network of OmiseGO allows easy adoption and usage of the service with a well constructed system that allows only the best currencies to win.
